january recap

Anyone else just feel like time is soaring? How was 2020 FIVE years ago? How was 2012 THIRTEEN years ago?

Anyway, January came and went faster than I can say yes to a martini. So here’s how mine went:

Week 1 - I started this project!

I spent most of the first week of January brainstorming for my future self. What does my career look like right now? What are my passions? What are things that are holding me back? I began generating content ideas, filming videos of my outfits, and building my website, blog, and socials.

Week 2 - a lot happened at my 9-5

The job that currently pays my bills got a lot of my time and energy during the second week of January. Our office had a huge construction project building out a technical training center for our franchise owners - currently our enterprise has 4 home services franchises: windows, painting, roofing, and garage renovation. As a former teacher, the training center gives me butterflies - it has all different kinds of home siding for painting examples, a full functioning garage, several window installations, and roofing samples. I spent the second weekend treating myself to some much needed R&R. Nail appointment, pilates, car wash.

Week 3 - I started playing with UGC!

I purchased a small backdrop Lightbox kit off of amazon and used a few things I already had to start practicing making video content of beauty products. This is something I’d love learning more about and really using as a supplemental income while also getting to use products that I enjoy.

Week 4 - pure chaos

It snowed here in Texas during the 4th week of January. It typically snows one time per year in Central Texas so we had our snow day - but thanks to technology it was not actually a “snow day” but a convenient “wfh” day. I started and finished a puzzle this week that I had gotten for Christmas, and got my highlights moved up. I also started challenging myself on Instagram by beginning an outfit series of “Day ## of posting everyday outfits until I get 10,000 followers.” Currently I have 20 followers. My goal might seem delusional now but I have confidence that I’ll find my people with a little bit of sweat.

See you soon
